I am hesitant to recommend an addictive game like The Sims 3 to people who are trying to save money and become millionaires. It can take a lot of your time, and you will likely want to buy the many expansion packs to keep up with the game, which can take up a lot of money.

But this simulation game does help you role play different scenarios and life choices to learn strategies you can apply to your real life.

The games are made by EA games. They started with original The Sims. They created expansion packs for The Sims. Some of the expansion packs offer additional game playing modes, such as new places to visit, while others provided things, like new furniture.

Then they enhanced the graphics to create The Sims 2. Then they created expansion packs for The Sims 2.

Then they enhanced the graphics to create The Sims 3. Then they created expansion packs for The Sims 3. Phew! I am hoping there won't be a The Sims4.

In playing any of the games, you can choose a character that is already created, or make one of your own. You can even create a character that looks just like you. Just hope that your daughter doesn't kill off your character because it didn't age fast enough.

You move your character into a house that is already created or make one of your own. You can even create whole families. Then you conduct your character's life. The character can form relationships, have children, get a job, and have hobbies and interests. Each character has a personality and each character has his or her issues. You can even create family trees.

There is no rules in the game and you can create your own goals for your Sims. The game doesn't end until you tell it to. Be sure you set the timer when you play, because this is one of those games that will take all of your time if you let it.

As you play the game, you can advance in your career by developing skills, and expanding your network of friends. Just like real life, you will have many things that compete for your attention. This requires you to choose what focus you want to have, while taking care of your own personal needs. You need to eat, sleep, use the bathroom, take a bath or shower, and have some social time in order to stay well enough to be motivated to study or work.

There are cheat codes you can find on the internet, but if you don't use them, you start out with a certain amount of money, and work your way up.

By playing the Sims3 without these cheat codes, you can learn the value of hard work, and try out different scenarios to see what will make you income. You learn the importance of paying your bills on time. You can learn which jobs are more lucrative, and learn how to balance your time. You learn the importance of friendships, and the importance of taking care of yourself. You learn that it takes time to advance in your career, and you have to start at the bottom, but there are ways you can take some shortcuts and skyrocket ahead. You also learn that there are things that will happen unexpectedly, no matter how well you follow the rules to get ahead.

Instead of saving the game, play it again and again, and experiment with different career choices and make different decisions. This way, without having to learn the hard way about the consequences of your decisions through real life, you can simulate your life in the game, and learn through your character.

Playing the Sims3 is a lot of fun. While you can be satisfied with the basic game, you may want to add the Ambitions Expansion Pack to get additional career choices of firefighter, ghost hunter, sculptor and fashionista.

You can also use it as an educational device to learn how to deal with people and situations, balance your goals and your time, try out different careers, and learn what it takes to advance.
