Week Two Progress in 100 Hubs in 30 Days Challenge
77
I am participating in the 100 Hubs in 30 Days Challenge, and have survived the first week. As I enter into the second week, I am still filled with ideas about hubs, and excited about writing about new topics as the whim hits me.
I wrote 19 hubs in the first week of this challenge.
Day Eight
- How to Make Money on HubPages Without Writing a Single Article
It is possible to make money on HubPages without writing a single article by using referral trackers to share links to hubs other writers have created. This hub provides step by step directions.
Day Eight: Tuesday
Today is my one month anniversary with HubPages. I have done pretty well writing a lot of articles. Even though I am slightly behind in the 100 Hubs in 30 Days Challenge, I am quite proud of the number of hubs I have already written for being on HP for only 30 days. I've written 49 hubs in 30 days, which is quite the achievement especially considering that I was out of the country for eight of those days and unable to write any hubs. Today's hub makes 50. I've written fifty hubs so far.
Day Nine
- Teach Your Kids to Save Money and Become Millionaires
Teaching children from a young age about the value of money and how to make financial decisions will provide a strong foundation for them throughout their lives. - Raise the Standard of Cleaning and the Quality of Your Life
I used to clean my house only when I was expecting visitors or when it was extremely dirty. But now, I try to keep an even level of cleanliness that has raised the standard of cleanliness in my house, and raised the quality of my life.
Day Nine: Wednesday
I came up with more hubs I wanted to write today. They come from all over the place, especially when reading other hubs, the answers and forums here on HubPages. The cleaning hub today came from Weekly Topic Inspiration forum. Thanks Simone!
I spent time today creating my spreadsheet listing all my hubs. I included columns which showed the changes I wanted to make on them, so I could keep track of what changes had been made. I haven't finished the spreadsheet yet, since it takes time to go through all the hubs to collect their URLs, and I am making the changes since the site is up.
I also spent time reading a book for a book review.
Day Ten
- House of Secrets Book Review
Book review of House of Secrets by Tracie Peterson, a Christian fiction book published by Bethany House.
Day Ten: Thursday
I had my weaving class today. I am making a denim rug, and need to cut lots and lots of denim strips as homework, so I did not have much time to write hubs today. My list of hubs I want to write continues to grow.
Day Eleven
- How to Make Ends Meet in the Short Term, the Long Term, and For a Lifetime
Making ends meet can be difficult, but solutions are available, for the short term, the long term and for a lifetime.
Day Eleven: Friday
Even though there are plenty of blue arrows, I am seeing red arrows on my accounts page today. Finally! People are reading my hubs. I posted some links to my hubs on my Facebook page. All those poor people who thought they were my friends so we could play Mafia Wars and Farmville are now finding out about my new obsession. I am trying to keep it to one a day so they don't feel like I am spamming my friends. I now have 95 followers. Thanks for following me, everyone. I feel truly honored.
Day Twelve
- Quilting Terms: What are Quilt Mysteries?
Quilt mysteries are suspenseful books that involve quilters or quilt shop owners. Many of them have been made into series. - Lessons from the Annual Credit Report
Your credit report can help you find errors that impact your credit score and help you find if you are a victim of identity theft, but it can also help you make wise financial decisions.
Day Twelve: Saturday
It's the weekend again, almost halfway through the challenge, and here I am, even farther behind than I was last weekend. No worries, there are some hubs that have been started that I need to finish off, and the list of ideas keeps growing and growing. I also had a hub that I had to separate into two because it was getting too long. Quilt Mysteries and Mystery Quilts are two separate hubs.
I have read I shouldn't publish hubs on the weekends because there isn't much activity, and it certainly seems to be true. I had so many comments yesterday, and new hubs to read. There aren't as many today.
Day Thirteen
- Tips on Writing 100 Hubs in 30 Days
Being halfway through the 100 Hubs in 30 Days Challenge, I share advice and tips on how to successfully complete the challenge. - How to Get New Books For Free
This hub describes how to get new, hot-off-the-press books for free from publishers. - Quilting Terms: What is a Mystery Quilt?
There are many different types of quilts, and mystery quilts fall under a special type. A quilter is involved with suspense and intrigue as she follows the clues to find out what her mystery quilt will look like.
Day Thirteen: Sunday
I think it is a good thing that it is pretty quiet on the weekends. That keeps me focused on writing hubs instead of going to the comments section over and over again. I am worried about the number of hubs I have yet to create. I think writing 60 hubs in 30 days is do-able, even though I haven't been meeting even that standard this week.
One hundred hubs seem to be a very long stretch, especially since I am so far behind. But since I wrote the hub about having goals, I think I should try harder and stretch for the 100 hubs. I have to practice what I preach!
I am happy to say I have 100 followers now. There are one hundred people counting on me to write one hundred hubs. I can't let them down.
Day Fourteen
- Watch a Flock of Starlings (Murmuration) Dance
A group of starlings perform a magical dance as they migrate for the winter. - Week Two Progress in 100 Hubs in 30 Days Challenge
- A Tribute to My 100 Followers
I have reached 100 followers in my first month here on HubPages, and am very honored. I am listing all of my followers in this hub, in hopes that you will visit them and see how special they are. - How to Create a Word Search Puzzle
Word search puzzles are an entertaining pastime, but making personalized seek and find puzzles are even more fun. - How to Join a Quilting Community
A new quilter may feel alone and isolated if she does not know anyone else who quilts. Joining a quilting community and becoming a part of a group of quilters is easy with the resources shown in this hub.
Day Fourteen: Monday
I have reached day fourteen already, and I have just written my 30th hub. Not too bad, except that I promised 100 hubs. The one about quilting community could have been broken into other hubs, but I wanted to answer the question thoroughly. I'll have to ask questions that have shorter answers in the future if I want to get to 100 hubs.
I had some fun creating a word search puzzle, and explaining it, but it did take a lot of time to put it together. Word search puzzles are quick to create, but creating them and writing about them takes some time.
I think as long as I keep letting myself write about things I am thinking about, like word searches, I will be able to stay motivated on this challenge. With this hub, I will have finished 33 hubs in 14 days. This means I have a lot of work cut out for me to do in the next 16 days.
I hope I can keep providing interesting topics for my readers.
Edited to add: I wound up writing in the starling murmuration before I went to bed, so I have 34 done now.
Summary of Progress in Week Two of 100 Hubs in 30 Days Challenge
This week I have finished fourteen hubs. [Edited: 15 after the last minute addition] That's two hubs a day, which isn't enough to cover the three hubs a day needed to complete the challenge, even if I hadn't fallen behind in week one. I have 33 hubs done overall in the challenge, which isn't so bad, but hopefully I will be able to catch up.
I am still having fun and taking breaks. I appreciate all of your support and encouragement. I really couldn't stay motivated without you.

Great work. go ahead and reach your milestone. Even if you don't your doing extremely well. Even 50 in 30 days is a huge milestone
Shoot for that goal! Even if you miss, you will still make it to the stars. Sure, it's a huge goal, but anything worth achieving is worth working for. Imagine how you will feel when you reach a goal that few have even attempted!
I am amazed that you have 161 hubs after only 3 months on Hub Pages. That's really impressive. I am doing the 30 hubs in 30 days challenge, and thinking that is quite an undertaking...then I saw your goals and mine is peanuts compared to that! How did you come up with so many hub ideas?
Full time...that would be great if I was able to. In the future I will probably hit a point in my life where I won't be working so that will be a goal to shoot for. I wonder if people do a challenge like this once per year? Have you heard of people doing an annual challenge for themselves? I mean if every year someone did 100 hubs in 30 days, to boost their number, and kept at it throughout the rest of the year as well, they would have some pretty high numbers pretty quickly. I wonder what the highest number of hubs is?
Ok, I'm still a newbie here...what's a "hub scrub"?
you are right but also funny
very interesting expereince.
